The world’ smallest inflatable stand up paddle board

The Red Paddle Co Compact 9’6″ is, quite simply, a revolutionary board. Built with the patented PACT Technology by Red Paddle Co, the inflatable paddle board market leaders, the 9’6″ Compact is half the size of standard inflatable paddler boards.

The Red Paddle Co 9’6″ Compact achieves it’s compact size buy utilising a living hinge and folding the board in half before rolling. It’s an ingenious way to pack down the board into what is basically a regular size back pack.

For more information about the Red Paddle Compact 9’6″, head over to America’s #1 inflatable board retailer Green Water Sports and read their article about the 9’6″ Compact inflatable paddle board.

Double chamber inflatable paddle boards

It’s the latest and greatest in the world of stand up paddle boarding, specifically, inflatable paddle boarding. Starboard have introduced double chamber inflatable paddle boards across much of their 2018 range. What does this mean for the average paddler? Well, not only do you get the security of a secondary chamber buoyancy in the (extremely) rare situation that the board deflates, but more importantly, you get a better performing board.

Just like buildings and sky scrapers use I-beams for structural rigidity and load bearing, Starboard are using the same concept to increase the stiffness of their already incredibly stiff boards. The I-beam provides stiffness which in turn improves board performance, responsive and speed. Trust me, I know, I have the 2018 Starboard 12’6″ Touring Deluxe DC, DC for double chamber.

The best all round inflatable stand up paddle board

Stand up paddle boarding is a booming sport. Each year thousands more venture out onto the water in the name of fun and good exercise. Some people like to surf paddle boards, some people like to race them, but the vast majority just like to cruise around and have fun at the beach, the lake, the river, or whatever your body of water may be. Naturally, there are boards that are designed for each section of the paddling population in mind with features and characteristics that go hand in hand with the intended purpose of the board. Surf SUPs are short and curvy, while racing paddle boards tend to be long and sleek with sharper edges. In the middle, you have the all round paddle board, and I’d like to highlight here one of the most versatile all round stand up paddle boards on the market. I’ve also personally owned one for about 3 years and even after a paddling career of almost 10 years, this board is still my go-to board and a family favourite.

Of course I am speaking about the Red Paddle Co 10’6″ Ride. It is 32″ wide and can carry up to 220lbs. Green Water Sports did a great review of the 2018 version of this board here with their 2018 Red Paddle Co 10’6″ Ride Review article.

The Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ is an inflatable stand up paddle board suited to paddlers from 100-220lbs. It is a great beginner board, a great first board, and a great all round board for the seasoned paddler. It really is the board that does it all for 90% of the population.

Check out the review by Green Water Sports, and follow up with them on any questions, you won’t regret paddling the 10’6″ Ride!

Traveling with your inflatable paddle board

Travelling the world with your paddle board has never been easier. Inflatable paddle boards by industry leaders Red Paddle Co and other notable brands including Naish Paddle Boards and Starboard SUPs, are resetting everyone’s perception and what can be achieved with a portable stand up paddle board.

Inflatable paddle boards can be rolled up, folded up and packed into a backpack or wheeled bag. This makes them extremely convenient to travel with. These boards can fit in the trunk of a small car, check in on aeroplanes and carried on your back if you choose to hike into a remote lake, river, beach, or lagoon.

On top of that, the 3 piece or breakdown paddles available also fit in the board bag along with all accessories for another great session on the water.

But what about performance you ask? Well, inflatables have come forward in leaps and bounds over the last 5 years mostly thanks to the afore mentioned brands leading the industry with technological and design advances. Inflatable SUP boards can pump up to 25PSI, which is more than enough to hold shape and be competitive with a true hard board on the race scene. However 15-20PSI is suitable for most paddlers and they get to enjoy the water but have the pleasure of a convenient package for transportation and storage.

Find out more about inflatable paddle boards at Green Water Sports. There are some 2014 boards still on sale! Spring is just days away and the days are warming up already.

See you on the water, in the airports, on the road with your inflatable SUP in tow!

Can you fish from a stand up paddle board?

SUP-stand-up-paddle-board-fishing-red-paddle-co-SUP-fishing-boardFishing from a stand up inflatable paddle board is really very clever. Being able to roll up your equipment and carry it/drive it/sail it into remote locations or stow in the trunk of your hatchback or below decks in your ocean going yacht or lake motor boat, opens up a world of new paddling and fishing locations. But, what if a hook punctures your board? Well, unless you are fishing for 10ft great whites, I wouldn’t worry about hooks piercing your board. A filleting knife perhaps, so you might want to leave that until you are back on a land!

The inflatable stand up paddle board by industry renowned Red Paddle Co the 10’8″ Mega is especially suited to fishing of all sorts. 10’8″ long and 36″ wide, it is very stable, with plenty of room to move, swing and pull your catch aboard. It also has 4 tie down points where you can attach a chest or tackle box etc. If you are new to paddle boarding and need a full kit, it is also available here as a board, paddle and free leash package.
